Bleu Azur Diamond

A rare gem of unusual color, the Bleu Azur (Azure Blue) diamond, weighing 3.45 carats, was set on a ring by Cartier in 2015.

In 2015, Cartier designed a ring crowned by a highly rare stone, namely a certified Type IIb blue diamond unique for its shape and color. Right from the first glance, the gem’s extraordinary hue is captivating. Certified Fancy Vivid (the most intense grade), its deep blue is uniform and scintillating.

The rough stone, weighing 7.92 carats, was cut into a 3.45-carat gem in an original pear shape: in order to preserve its intense color, the diamond has fewer facets on its pavilion than a conventional pear-shaped stone, with a tip as pointed as an arrowhead. Set in the middle of a ring, the Bleu Azur is flanked by two tapers diamonds with specially rounded ends that perfectly hug the gem, underscoring its unique shape.
