Created in 2019, the Clash de Cartier collection plays with the Maison’s emblematic style codes to produce a bold new aesthetic.
The Clash de Cartier jewelry collection celebrates some of the Maison’s emblematic motifs: studs, square-headed nails (“clou de Paris”), and beads. Playing with bold shapes and volume, geometry and texture, materials and colors, the collection’s pieces offer new interpretations of these motifs.

Studs appear on all the pieces in the collection. Already seen in designs throughout the 1920s, here they are moveable and free. They punctuate the design, emphasize shapes, and create relief, fully wielding their graphic power.
Square-headed nails, often used in the past as punctuation on accessories and timepieces, are given full play here. They take their place as a powerful central element, bringing structure and rhythm to each piece.
A favorite motif used by Jeanne Toussaint to create bold yet sensual jewelry, beads amplify the volume. Made of colored gems or gold, on their own or set with diamonds, beads heighten the design’s sculptural quality.
The motifs fuse in an articulated, spiky mesh that adds to the fun component of the jewelry, whose mechanical look evokes some of Cartier’s 1930s designs inspired by the industrial era.
